Ka‘anapali 2020: Making It Pono

In early 1999, ten community members agreed to take on the community-based planning process for all of Ka‘anapali Development Corp.'s (formerly Amfac) approximately 4,000 acres in Honokowai to help create the vision for the proposed Ka‘anapali 2020 development. An experienced facilitator and planning consultant were selected. A Future Search Conference entitled "Ka‘anapali 2020: Making It Pono" was set with eight community stakeholder groups: Ka‘anapali Development Corp., Business & Commerce, Community Organizations, Cultural Heritage, Environment, Government, Social Services and Unions. Each stakeholder group contained eight members. So began the process of creating a common vision for the year 2020.
